It may have been summer for a while where you live, but it just stopped raining EVERY DAY here. The sun is finally coming out (not on my days off though, of course).
During the summer months, my makeup routine changes a lot. I try and go for the “all natural” look instead of getting all dolled up. I have a naturally oily t-zone and mixing that with the heat from the sun = not good times.
In the summer I really enjoy family BBQ's, pool parties, taking the dogs for a swim in the lake, fishing, and bonfires! Having a full face of makeup when I do those things isn't necessary.
What are your favorite things to do in the summer? Let me know in the comments!
Even though I don't go all-out with my beauty routine in the summer, I still like to look "put together". Check out my must-have beauty products for the summer months below.
BB Cream is a holy grail summer skin product. In the cooler months, I like to wear medium coverage foundation, but once things start to heat up, BB Cream is a savior for my skin. It has enough coverage to make my skin's color's even, but it doesn't leave a heavy feeling. This BB Cream also has SPF 30, which is perfect for protection against the sun.
It takes me awhile to get a good tan going, so in the meantime, I like to be sure I look a little rosy with some blush.
BareMinerals is the best mineral makeup brand I've ever used. I love how light their makeup feels on my skin and how it doesn't clog my pores.
I had to include this blush as well because the powder-gel formula is so perfect for the summer time. I always use this blush when I go foundation and BB Cream free. It's just so easy to apply and leaves me with a great touch of color.
I always go back to my gel liner in the summer time. It has such better staying power. It's also waterproof so if I go for a swim or get a little sweaty, I know I'm still going to have a dramatic looking eye.
This concealer is the best.thing.ever!!! If you haven't tried it yet, seriously, why not?? I used this every day, no matter what the season is.
I just started using loose powder to deal with extra shine (seriously, where have I been?) and it's been a game changer. With the extra heat and extra sweatyness comes extra shine, so I need to be sure to bake my face just right.
I was lucky enough to receive this mascara complimentary, from Influenster, and I'm so glad I did. I like to consider myself a bit of a mascara junkie. I've been gifted with naturally long lashes, but finding a mascara that gives them a good lift without looking clumpy has been a challenge ... up until now.
It's all about the neutrals in the summer time and ColorPop has really affordable shadows that have an amazing color payoff. This eyeshadow set is perfect for everyday use!
There's nothing that makes you look more put together than a bright lip. I love love love putting on a more dramatic lip color when I've downplayed the rest of my makeup. Seriously, sunkissed cheeks, lifted lashes, and a bold lip - there's nothing better!
ColorPop's liquid lipsticks have really great staying power as well. They have a great selection and shades that also come in Matte if that's more your thing.
Nail polish needs to be included in this list - it should be mandatory for the summertime!
Essie comes out with the best shades and I'm completely in love with this bluish/teal colour for summer. Every time I wear any Essie polish I always get compliments. I like to go with my subtle colors on my toes, but for my hands, it's all about the chic colors!
Even if you're not wearing as much makeup in the summer time, it's always so important to wash your it all off at the end of the day. I must admit there are times where I forget, or I just want to crawl into bed instead, but I always regret it the next day, because my skin is not happy with me.
