December Goals + My No Spend November Experience

It's December ... yes, I said that right, DECEMBER! I'm officially freaking out. I'm not ready for it to be the end of the year.

I finished my No Spend November Challenge ... and I actually did pretty well! I only bought two things that weren't on my necessities list: a Christmas gift that was deeply discounted and there would have been no way I would have bought it at full price, and a lunch date with a friend of mine I hadn't seen in way too long.

This challenge really taught me how little I really need. Sure, there were times that I wished I could have bought a new scarf or a Starbucks latte, but it didn't take long before not buying things just became normal.

I've found that when I'm walking the mall or my favorite department stores, I'm less likely to make a pointless purchase. The first purchase I made for myself since completing the No Spend November took me more than 24 hours to decide whether or not I really wanted to purchase it. That never would have happened before.

A No Spend month is something that I could make a part of my regular savings plan for the year. I highly recommend trying it out!

Now on to my other goal for November. November was a pretty busy month for me. I know I've been saying this every month, but my 9-5 has been pretty demanding lately. I also started another business venture that will help move me towards my dream of working for myself, so that took up a far amount of my time.

November Recap

Home/Life
  • Finish going through all the "stuff" in my house - I didn't go through ALL my stuff, so I'm going to say this was a fail. I'm wayyyyy closer than I was before, so I get some points.
  • Get my Budget Binder together - I decided to wait until January to do this.
  • Finish reading The Pillars of the Earth - It's about damn time. It wasn't my favorite read, but I still enjoyed it.

Health/Fitness
  • Drink 2L of water a day - I switched to a different water bottle which really helped me achieve this goal.
  • Lose 5 pounds - SUCCESS!!! I am very happy about this one. I think it was because I was drinking more water, I couldn't go out to eat for lunch or dinner, and I stopped buying junk to snack on late at night.
  • Make a strength training schedule - FAIL! I have no excuses for this one.

Blog/Social Media
  • Finish reading Streamline Your Side-Hustle - I couldn't make this happen this month. I took all my reading time to read Pillars of the Earth.
  • Post 5 times this month - I need to move my blog up on my priority list so this can get done.
  • Get everything ready for my BIG CHANGE! You can find out more about that here - Have I mentioned to you how indecisive I am? There's SO MUCH that goes into a brand identity. Halfway through the month, I told myself it was okay if I changed my mind after this rebrand, because it happens! Once the pressure was off I was able to get a lot of things ready ... but not everything.
  • Gain 100 new Twitter followers - I suck at social media.

Okay, Okay ... this past month wasn't my best. I'm not even going to try and make any excuses for it. All I can say is: let's move forward!

December Goals

Home/Life

Health/Fitness
  • Lose 5 pounds (even with all the holiday meals!)
  • Make a strength training schedule
  • Go to the gym once. I haven't been in a loooong time, so even going ONCE would be an improvement
  • Make a slow cooker recipe

Blog/Social Media

My December is pretty light. The most important thing to me right now is concentrating on my health. I've been avoiding developing a healthier lifestyle for a long time now, but I can't avoid it any longer. It really is time for me to put this first. I'll be writing a more detailed post about this soon.

What are your December goals?
