Where did kandypants come from?

Kandypants was a nickname someone gave me in high school. I thought it was unique and fun, which matched my personality. Every time I had to come up with a username for something I would use kandypants because it was guaranteed not to be taken. I spelled it with a K instead of a C because my first name begins with a K, but different variations begin with a C. I thought I was being clever.

I had wanted to start a blog for years, but never got the courage to do it. One day I just decided it was finally time. I basically picked kandypants as the name because I couldn't think of anything else and if I waited any longer I would have chickened out. I wasn't good at coming up with anything creative and I didn't want to use my real name either. KP are my actual initials, so I figured it fit pretty well.

Why I'm making a change

I just can't brand kandypants. Every time I try and make a decision about how I want to brand my blog I can't figure out exactly what/who is kandypants. It was supposed to represent me, but it doesn't feel very me anymore. I'm not who I was in high school. I have different views on life, different priorities, different values.

I also want my blog to sound more professional. Don't get me wrong, in real life, I can still be a huge goofball, but I want my blog to have a more grown-up appearance. I'm almost 30. If now isn't the time to grow up, I don't know when is.

I want blogging to be my profession. I want to do this for the rest of my life. That sounds so scary, but I'm finally ready to make a commitment and make this real, so it's important that I'm able to brand it in a way that feels genuine for me.

So, what's the new blog?

I'm changing my blog name and domain to my real name - sort off.

Like I said, my initials are KP. However, my last name is awfully long and kind of hard for people to figure out how to pronounce. I'm going to save people the trouble and just use my first name and middle name.

My new blog name and domain will be Krysta Lynn Blogs.

It was really tough for me to make this decision, but once I did a huge wave of excitement came over me. I can finally make my blog what I think it should be, instead of what I thought kandypants was. The change is going to take place sometime in December. I haven't decided whether or not I want to buy a new theme from Etsy or makeover my theme on my own. Either way, things are going to look different and hopefully feel different too.

I'm really indecisive when it comes to just about everything, so deciding what colour theme I want to go with, fonts I want to use, and the design of my blog post images I like best is going to be hella difficult - but for the next few weeks I'm going to be searching Pinterest high and low for inspiration.

Regardless of the work that needs to be done to make this change, it needs to be done and I'm so excited for it!
